Craft Portal, a risk-sensing tool, utilizes third-party data to offer insights to supply chain managers. However, user engagement was lacking, prompting a need for a more engaging experience. I worked closely with PMs and Developers, and stakeholders, to create tools for collaboration that would help increase user engagement.
Identifying Areas of Improvement
Conducting user interviews and a competitive analysis revealed valuable insights into user pain points and preferences, forming the foundation for enhancing the user experience.
- Insight 1 - Supply chain professionals typically use many softwares to communicate and to store information regarding risks and violations
- Insight 2 - Large majority of issues have to be retroactively remedied
- Insight 3 - Supply chain professionals are risk-averse and want to feel a sense of confidence in their ability to resolve issues
Co-Development Program with a Major Client
Establishing a co-development program with a significant client facilitated close collaboration, regular feedback sessions, and real-world testing, aligning our solutions with client needs. In this program we met weekly, allowing us to validate and improve designs almost in real time. Much of the design work involved rapid prototyping to help guide discussions and feedback. The feature that came out of these discovery meetings we called "Case Management", an issue creation and tracking tool with a few novel abilities that would help our clients no only resolve issues, but to leverage Craft.co's risk sensing data to get ahead of problems before the client's supply chain is impacted.
German Supply Chain Act
To make things simple, some of our clients saw Case Management as a way to help them abide the law in Germany, the German Supply Chain Act (GSCA). Through working closely with our clients, we designed additional features to Case Management that solves the following criteria as a part of GSCA compliance:
- Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence: Companies covered by the act are required to conduct due diligence on potential human rights and environmental impacts within their supply chains.
- Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Companies must identify and assess potential risks related to human rights violations and environmental harm associated with their supply chain activities.
- Transparency and Reporting: Companies are obligated to publish annual reports detailing their due diligence measures, the identified risks, and the actions taken to mitigate those risks.
If a company is found guilty of violating any these, they can expect hefty fines that could result in being shut-down. Creating additional features to Case Management meant understanding the nuances of the GSCA (written in German), and what exactly would make our clients feel confident they can avoid GSCA violations.
