Envision, a startup in the health space, were looking to help organizations better take care of their employees physical and mental health. My responsibility was to strategize and design a series of features, tailored to HR professionals, that would improve the wellbeing and satisfaction of employees in the workplace.
Streamlined User Flows: Guiding DHA's Progress
Simplicity in user flows proved invaluable for DHA, offering a roadmap to identify gaps and define essential screens. These intuitive flows played a crucial role in harmonizing development constraints and structuring data, resulting in a more effective design process.
Out of this approach emerged three principal user flows, earmarked for testing and validation:
- Sharing a Company-wide Update:Streamlining the process for users to submit broad-reaching updates across the company. This flow aims for simplicity and efficiency in broadcasting essential information.
- Sharing Specific Content or Invitations:Enabling users to share tailored content or invitations, emphasizing customization and relevance to recipients. This flow caters to targeted communication needs.
- Engaging with Content or Invitations:Facilitating users in actively interacting with shared content or invitations, fostering engagement and ensuring meaningful interactions within the DHA community.
These clearly defined flows set the stage for the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) by allowing the extraction of a prioritized feature list. This iterative approach ensures that the core features chosen align with the tested flows, enhancing the effectiveness and user satisfaction of the end product.
After our initial interviews, brainstorms, and user flows, we used an impact vs effort matrix to determine the list of features for BETA. We focused this phase on the employer experience, which we divided into three main categories.
Category 1 - Curated Content
Category 2 - Ability to view, create, and import content.
Category 3 - Dashboard for each category of content.
Example 1: Curated Content
We decided to use one hub for all curated content that clients could use for the newsletters, notifications, invitations, etc. This content is created by Envision Well, or donated by the greater Envision Well network of clients.
From here, users can search for types or categories of content. They have the ability to publish immediately or add them to a calendar for publishing later (not yet mocked).
Example 2: Sub Dashboards
The software's dashboard design centers around delivering a seamless user experience, enabling employers to effortlessly track and measure metrics. The primary focus is on providing:
- Centralized General Dashboard:A comprehensive and centralized dashboard serves as the hub, offering a holistic view of essential metrics and data. Users can access an overview of key information without the need for constant filter adjustments, streamlining the monitoring process.
- Specialized Sub-Dashboards for Each Content Type:To further enhance precision and relevance, the software features specialized sub-dashboards dedicated to distinct content types. This segmentation allows for in-depth analysis and tracking of metrics specific to each content category. Users can easily navigate and access detailed insights without sifting through unrelated data.
This strategic dashboard layout ensures that employers have both an overall perspective and the ability to delve into content-specific details. It optimizes efficiency, empowering data-driven decisions without unnecessary complexity, and aligns with DHA's commitment to intuitive user interfaces.
